Kate Herbert BSc (Hons), PGCE in Adult Education, Advanced Clinical Massage Training, Esalen Massage Certificate, Hot Stones Massage Certificate, Energetic Cellular Healing Certificate, Reiki 2 and Diploma in Vibrational Medicine

I have been a complementary health therapist for over 15 years now. I offer a fusion of the timeless wisdom of eastern medicine with modern western medicine techniques to create a treatment just for you.

A Biology lecturer for many years, my degree in Science and healing modalities has helped me take a rational and intuitive approach to understand the health and medication implications on your body of any disease or niggle you bring. This includes considering the stressors in your life. I have a good knowledge of anatomy and physiology, the chakras and acupressure points. All this will be integrated into your personal treatment to optimise healing.

To find out more about each modality used please see the individual pages under holistic therapies on the site.

If you would like to discuss your health needs and how I can support you to improve your health and vitality please call for a chat. I look forward to welcoming you and allowing the
zing back into your life.

Advanced Clinical Massage

A massage with a difference for the treatment of chronic pain. Eastern and western techniques are combined in a luxurious, though clinical, massage that deeply relieves body pain.

Based on the Jing Institute HFMAST each treatment will combine Heat, Fascial work, deep Muscle techniques, Acupressure, Stretching (both passive and strengthening) and Teaching self care techniques you can use at home to create more rapid healing. Self care examples are self trigger point treatment, breathing techniques, stretching or mobilisation exercises. I add a bit of rocking and rolling too!

A careful consultation including looking at your pain and medical background with observation of body movements and details of how your pain impacts your daily life is recorded. Now we have a measure to show improvement at each session.

Maybe only one session is needed. But, if the pain is profound and chronic considerable improvement generally occurs by the third session. A course of six is generally recommended and then, less frequent (eg monthly) maintenance sessions to keep the body flexible, relaxed and pain free. It feels good.
