What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a structured, non-invasive therapy based on the principle that specific points on the feet and hands correspond to organs, systems, and structures throughout the body.
A trained reflexologist will recognise imbalances in the feet. Working these reflex points, will help to release tension, improve circulation, and support the body’s own capacity for balance and repair.
There are 7000 nerve endings in the feet which are stimulated releasing energy blockages helping to restore the body’s natural balance and equilibrium.
With roots in ancient healing traditions and a growing body of modern research, Reflexology is increasingly recognised as a valuable complement to conventional healthcare. It works on physical, emotional, and energetic levels, making it effective both for general wellbeing or addressing specific symptoms.
What can Reflexology help with?
Clients commonly seek Reflexology for a wide range of acute and chronic conditions related to stress and anxiety, sleep difficulties, hormonal imbalances, chronic pain, digestive issues, post operative recovery and care of the terminally ill, asthma and hight blood pressure. It can be very helpful during pregnancy and labour. Reflexology can assist with pain relief as it encourages the body to produce it’s natural endorphins. It is also widely used alongside treatments for long-term health conditions, where it can help manage symptoms and
improve quality of life.
Because Reflexology supports the nervous system and encourages deep relaxation, it can be particularly effective for conditions that are aggravated by stress — which covers a surprisingly wide range of physical and emotional concerns.
Reflexology supports the body to eliminate toxins and impurities, helping elimination systems to function more efficiently. Regular treatments help maintain health and wellbeing.
Reflexology works on every level — physical, emotional, and energetic. Its greatest gift may be the one clients often need most: mental calm and space in an overwhelming world.
Reflexology is suitable for all ages.
What to expect
A session typically lasts between 45 – 60 minutes. Extra time will be needed at the first appointment. You remain fully clothed throughout, with only shoes and socks removed.
There will be a consultation to understand your health history and what you’e hoping to address, before working methodically over the reflex points in the feet. The whole person is treated not just the symptoms.
Most clients find sessions deeply relaxing – most drift into deep relaxation or sleep.
After a course of treatment, many report improvements that go beyond what they initially came for. Any responses to the treatment are noted to inform how the body is responding and what is needed for further treatments.
As with most complementary therapies, regular sessions are generally more effective than a one-off appointment, though even a single session can provide meaningful relief.
