Fiona Milnes – Advanced Practitioner in The Bowen Technique
Fiona has been involved in complementary medicine and holistic therapies for over forty years. During this time she accumulated a comprehensive understanding of the human body, pain patterns, posture, sports injuries and exercises for flexibility and strength. The main reason for all this study and experience was due to the fact that starting in her early teens she experienced chronic back ache. In following years Fiona suffered serious injuries to coccyx, neck, mid spine, lower spine, hips and knees.
Naturally, like many people, Fiona went through the NHS seeking relief and solutions to the physical damage incurred. However, she was just given painkillers, followed by physiotherapy, ultrasound and TENS treatments. When pain and restrictions had not been solved the only other solutions offered were injections or an operation, which she declined. She then tried osteopathy followed by various forms of alternative treatment and whilst some of them gave relief, nevertheless the problem(s) would always creep back.
After a few years of thinking she might have to live with pain for the rest of her life, she was recommended the Bowen Technique. As the treatment had been so effective she then thought she would give it a try for other long-standing problems and as each problem was helped and eventually resolved, she decided to train in The Bowen Technique with BOWTECH – one of only two organisations recognised by the CNHC for accreditation of Bowen Therapy training – in order to help others as she had been helped.
During 20 years of using the Bowen Technique to help people of all ages, she continues to study various aspects of mind and body and uses her vast experience and knowledge in her personalised, patient-focused treatment sessions.
She has a high success rate even with difficult-to-resolve and more rare cases. Her treatment sessions will involve not only assessments and treatment, but will also help the patient gain a wider understanding of their symptoms and what they can do to put themselves on a road to optimum well-being.
